Once upon a time, there was an old man who lived in a small village. He had very little..just his son and a single horse. One day, the horse ran away. The neighbors came by and said, “What terrible luck…” The old man simply replied, “Maybe.” A few days later, the horse returned, bringing with it a herd of wild horses. The neighbors were amazed: “What great fortune!” The old man said, “Maybe.” The next day, the son tried to tame one of the wild horses. He was thrown off and broke his leg. The neighbors shook their heads: “How awful…” The old man answered, “Maybe.” Soon after, soldiers came to the village to recruit young men for war. Every able-bodied boy was taken, except the son, because of his broken leg. The neighbors said, “What a blessing!” And the old man replied, “Maybe.” Moral: Not everything is as it seems..what feels like a setback today may be setting the stage for something greater tomorrow.
